This certificate plan is designed to meet your needs if you are currently at least provisionally certified for Career and Technical Education; and are completing the required professional knowledge courses to convert your provisional certificate to a standard certificate.
To be admitted to this program you need to have an Arizona Provisional Career and Technical Education teaching certificate (or equivalent from another state).
This certificate is designed for students or professionals who have a provisional Career and Technical Education teaching certificate for Arizona (or an equivalent from another state) OR who are working to complete course work to convert a provisional certificate to a standard certificate.
To receive an undergraduate certificate (at least 15 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.
Please be aware that federal financial aid is not available for some certificates, if the certificate is pursued and completed as a stand-alone certificate (i.e., not completed concurrently with a degree program). See the "Details" tab for additional information.

Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Certificate in Career and Technical Education, is to provide professional knowledge courses for those with occupation specific knowledge and skills. The certificate program combines fundamental career and technical education theory with professional knowledge for developing and delivering occupational training in a variety of educational settings. It is ideal for those who seek professional advancement in the field of career and technical education or who require professional knowledge courses for certification renewal. Certificate completers will have the knowledge and ability to plan, develop, deliver, and assess instruction in their occupational area.

1. Demonstrate familiarity and understanding of foundations of Career and Technical Education
Individual program admission requirements over and above admission to NAU are required.
Take the following 15 units with a Grade of "C" or better in each course and a minimum GPA of 2.5:
All courses in this certificate program are eligible for transfer to one of the B.S.Ed. Career and Technical Education degree programs.This certificate may be pursued and completed concurrently with a degree program or as a stand-alone certificate. Federal financial aid cannot be used if the certificate is completed as a stand-alone certificate.
