What Can I Do with a Minor in Environmental Communication?

You choose a minor with your advisor guidance to complement your major and your personal academic goals. You may be required to complete a minor in a field different than your major.

You may use the same course or courses to satisfy requirements in both a major and a minor as long as at least fifty percent of the units in the minor have a different prefix than the major. You may also use the same course or courses to meet both liberal studies and minor requirements as long as you meet all requirements for the minor.

Purpose Statement

The minor in Environmental Communication is designed to introduce students to the range of subfields in environmental communication and provide them with the necessary background in environmental history, ideologies, issues, and ethics for engaging in the production, analysis, and evaluation of environmental messages. One emphasis is developing capacities to think critically about environmental messages pertaining to human relationships with the natural world that are communicated through artistic, advocacy, and journalistic venues both verbal and audio-visual.
