Emergency Management, Minor

A Minor in Emergency Management allows you to gain an understanding of the phases of emergency management, along with specific information related to Incident Management Systems, Emergency Planning, Homeland Security and Disaster Recovery in Emergency Management. Whether you are a full-time emergency manager or taking on emergency responsibilities as part of other job duties, the knowledge you gain in the Minor in Emergency Management plan provides you with the tools you need to serve as a trained professional working to protect your community from emergency events.

What Can I Do with a Minor in Emergency Management?

This minor will enable you to become a competitive candidate for positions in both the public and private sectors. It will give you the ability to pursue career opportunities in various employment settings including government agencies, non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross or Salvation Army, large corporations, financial institutions, and public utility providers.

University Requirements

  • A minor is earned in conjunction with a bachelor's degree.

    To receive a minor (18 to 24 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. At least 12 units of the minor must be unique to that minor and not applied to any other minor.
