English Secondary Education, Minor

Department of English

College of Arts and Letters

English is an important "lingua Franca" or working language for nearly a billion people. In the U.S., nearly 220 million are native speakers with varying degrees of mastery. The ability to help others improve their English skills is valuable in a variety of settings, but particularly in the realm of secondary education. Students who seek to make a difference in the lives and careers of others may well be inspired by this minor.
