This undergraduate certificate will engage students from across disciplines to synthesize and apply innovative thinking skill sets and the design process to a diverse range of disciplinary, inter-disciplinary, and multi-disciplinary issues and problems. Students will learn and utilize multiple toolsets to process to investigate, conceptualize and generate relevant solutions to issues and problems. They will obtain the skills to initiate and direct research and ideation, then prototype and test solutions, and be able to articulately and strategically deliver the message/ story/ content of their “project.” Throughout their experience, students will consistently be empowered as leaders and collaborators, which will serve them in whatever future directions they choose.
The certificate will give students of all majors a competitive edge in the job market. Employers are looking for students who can think and act in creative, innovative ways. Students will become leaders in teamwork and in crossing disciplinary boundaries to achieve real world results.
To receive an undergraduate certificate (at least 15 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.
