This minor will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to learn more about how to manage or start a small business. The competencies mastered in the minor are consistent with becoming a more effective and adaptable colleague in an existing small business.
As students complete competencies, they will be earning credit towards NAU classes and an NAU degree.
This minor is not available to students completing the Major in Small Business Administration through Personalized Learning.
This minor is available only to students completing the BA or BS in Liberal Arts or the BA or BS in Computer Information Technology through Personalized Learning.
A minor is not required of students in the Personalized Learning program who transfer in a completed Associates degree or 64 transferable units from a regionally accredited institution.
A minor is earned in conjunction with a bachelor's degree.
To receive a minor (18 - 24 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. At least 12 units of the minor must be unique to that minor and not applied to any other minor.
In addition to University Requirements:
No more than fifty percent of the units used to satisfy minor requirements may be used to satisfy major requirements.

Personalized Learning Competencies for the Minor in Small Business Administration
Completion of these competencies will result in the awarding of credit for NAU classes.
C1. Demonstrate concepts and processes associated with successful entrepreneurial performance.
C2. Examine the personal traits/behaviors associated with successful entrepreneurial performance.
C3. Examine fundamental business concepts that affect business decision-making.
C4. Explore concepts and strategies needed for career exploration, development for co-requisites for becoming a successful entrepreneur.
C5. Investigate the concepts, systems, and strategies needed to acquire, motivate, develop, and terminate staff.
C6. Employ and audit the processes and systems implemented to facilitate daily business operations.
