Description: This course prepares students to recognize, critique, help shape, and transform a story. It requires a background in the history of narrative, cross-cultural and contemporary developments in narrative writing. Topics addressed in Narrative Studies include narratives in cross-cultural perspectives, popular culture and ethnicity, writing and narrative form, historical perspectives on narrative writing, and visual/digital culture and literacy. Letter grade only. May be repeated for up to 9 units of credit.
