Description: Substance abuse is a social, medical and mental health epidemic today. This course focuses on fundamental biological and social causes of substance abuse, primary impact on the individual, and the secondary impacts of substance abuse and addiction on the larger community. Methods of intervention and treatment today including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Treatment, and 12 Step models are explored. Letter grade only.
