ECI 502 - Literacy L: Developmental Literacy, Evidenced-based Practices, & Language Arts In Elementary School
Description: This course focuses on Language acquisition and emergent literacy from birth through third grade. Informed by the Science of Reading, this course examines contexts that support children's language and literacy development. Research-based systematic phonics, including language and literacy development is incorporated into course instruction. Aligned to Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) Standards, Arizona College and Career Ready Standards (ACCRS), and current accreditation standards, ECI 503 may be taken concurrently. Contains an assessment that must be successfully completed in order to move toward student teaching. Cross-curricular emphases and ties to the arts are included. Co-convened with ECI 402. Letter grade only.
