ESE 571 - Positive Behavior Support In Applied Settings

Description: PBS incorporates principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) such as reinforcement, extinction, a functional perspective of behavior, and objective measurement of behavior over time, with the principles of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) such as self-determination, quality of life, and person-centered planning. The emphasis in this course is on considering behavioral excesses and deficits within the context of environmental stimuli that precede and follow the behavior of interest, and learning to identify behavioral function to develop and implement proactive approaches for modifying environments to make problem behavior irrelevant, inefficient, and ineffective. Letter grade only.
