CCJ 240 - Corrections And Social Control
Description: This course provides an examination of issues facing correctional systems both inside and outside the United States. Special attention is given to theories of punishment, the regulation and management of criminal offenders, the use of the correctional system as a broader mechanism of social control and an assessment of effective alternatives to the mass incarceration policies that currently predominate U.S. correctional policy. Letter grade only.
