Civil and Environmental Engineering
Description: This course is an advanced examination of contemporary building science topics, means and methods currently used in practice to deliver performance-based construction projects. The successful student will gain a broader understanding of the historical context relating to the sustainable building movement and develop increased technical skills associated with performance-based building design and construction. A basic understanding of construction means and methods, building systems, plan reading, and building information modeling are required prerequisites for this course and will be assessed and reinforced throughout the semester. The building science principles covered in this course will provide a foundation for enabling successful students to participate as contributing members in performance-based construction project delivery teams. Cross-listed with BSCI 501. Letter grade only.
