Mechanical Engineering
Description: This course is a practical approach to modeling the plastic behavior of materials. Topics include: physical models, index notion, elastic stress-strain relations, yield and failure criteria, perfectly plastic models, work hardening models, and integration of models into finite element software. Builds on fundamental concepts first introduced in Fluid Mechanics, Structural Analysis, and Differential Equations. Letter grade only.
Units: 3
Sections offered: Fall 2025
Prerequisite: Admission to Mechanical Engineering MS, Mechanical Engineering PhD, or Bioengineering PhD
