EE 506 - Advanced Power Electronics I
Description: The topics include introduction to power electronics; applications of power electronics for motor drives, power systems, renewable energy, uninterruptible power supplies, induction heating, and compact fluorescent lamps; semiconductor devices; analysis and design of non-isolated and isolated DC-DC converters; design of feedback controllers for DC-DC converters; design of high-frequency inductors and transformers; soft-switching in DC-DC converters; analysis and design of AC-DC diode and thyristor converters and DC-AC inverters. 2 hrs. lecture, 3 hrs. lab. Co-convened with EE 406. Letter grade only.
