ANT 317 - Cities, States, And Empires In Archaeological Perspective


Description: This course introduces students to past cities, states, and empires in the archaeological perspective, demonstrating how archaeological methods, theory, and evidence are employed to add to the anthropological and historical understanding of such polities. Each section of this course will focus on a specific region, time period, or thematic specialty in global archaeology depending on the instructor's expertise. Topics may include but are not limited to: Afro-Eurasia, the Middle East, South America, Mesoamerica, and Historical Archaeology. Letter grade only. May be repeated for up to 6 units of credit with different topics.
