Educational Psychology
Description: This course is designed to provide students with an overview of the theoretical approaches and processes associated with psychotherapy involving K-12 students in school-based settings. Students will simultaneously learn basic counseling skills, which are emphasized in a given sequence, and learn theoretical approaches that are used by practicing school psychologists. Specifically, the course content aims at providing an overview of theoretical constructs, processes, applications, research, and assessment. Issues related to the counseling of students and families from various cultural and ethnic groups are integrated throughout. This course includes at least ten hours of supervised counseling practice. Letter grade only.
