EMGT 460 - Emergency Operations Center Management And Operations


Description: This course, developed in collaboration with state, county, and local emergency management practitioners, provides students with a comprehensive and high-impact learning experience in emergency management. Addressing the critical need for a well-prepared applicant pool proficient in Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs), this course bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practical application. Students will engage directly with emergency management professionals, learn Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) doctrine, and participate in a hands-on functional exercise to set up and operate an EOC. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to begin working in the field of emergency management, contributing to a more resilient and prepared community. Letter grade only.
