HS 270 - Introduction To Biostatistics


Description: Introduction to biostatistical concepts and tools used to answer real health questions about individuals, communities, and populations. Students learn to summarize and visualize health data; design and critique commonly used health research study designs; analyze probabilities, distributions, and hypothesis tests; and interpret simple linear regression models. Emphasis is placed on practical decision-making, interpretation of statistical results, and clear communication of findings to non-statistical health audiences. Students engage in reproducible data analysis using statistical software with real health datasets. No prior statistics or programming experience are required. This course serves as a foundational requirement for the Applied Health Analytics Undergraduate Certificate. Letter grade only,
