Description: Language acquisition and emergent literacy from birth through third grade. Examines contexts that support children's language and literacy development. Research-based systematic phonics, including language and literacy development is incorporated into course instruction. ECI 403 may be taken concurrently. Contains an assessment that must be successfully completed in order to register for student teaching. Co-convened with ECI 502. Letter grade only.
