SCI 508 - Science Teacher Practicum

Description: This three-semester course provides principles and strategies for teaching science to adolescents including students with exceptionalities, providing research-based instructional strategies in reading, including for students with dyslexia, and delivering appropriate accommodations or modifications through effective and developmentally-appropriate instructional design and lesson planning. In addition, the course provides research-based strategies to improve the classroom learning environment and classroom management as well as professional responsibility and conduct. Finally, the course coordinates student practicums in secondary science classrooms prior to student teaching. This course serves students in the MAT-S graduate program. Pass/Fail only. May be repeated for up to 5 units of credit. Course fee required.
