BIO 513 - The Mechanics And Energetics Of Locomotion

Description: This course will integrate students' knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and metabolism into a framework for understanding the mechanics and energetics of locomotion. This course will use historical and current primary literature to provide a fundamental understanding of the field. Students will learn about the links between the mechanics of a movement and the energy consumed and apply this knowledge to clinical situations. They will gain an appreciation of the techniques used in the study of mechanics and energetics, identify open questions in the field, and develop approaches to tackle them. This will provide students with the knowledge and skills to develop and answer research questions both in this area and more broadly. Co-convened with BIO 412C. Letter grade only.
