CENE 283 - Environmental Engineering Soils

Description: This course introduces the student to the chemical and physical properties of soil, with emphasis on the clay fraction. Topics include soil classification, common soil contaminants, the concept of contaminant partitioning between the solid and liquid/gas/biotic phases, and fate and transport in the subsurface. Also included are methods and techniques for soil sampling, creating sampling plans, and analyzing soil sampling data. Letter grade only.
