PT 696 - Contemporary Pt Practice 3

Description: This course will prepare students to engage with emerging areas of 21st-century health care and to practice within that system in adherence to all applicable rules and laws defining how physical therapists can operate. A focus will be placed on the interpretation and integration of ethics and legal issues as they relate to emerging areas of health care and how they affect practice. Students will learn the characteristics of health and wellness and the risk factors that can play a role in determining the long-term prognosis of patients. These early modules will set the groundwork for students to examine the foundations of value-based care and their role in promoting physical therapy as a net positive for the US healthcare industry. Students will be asked to demonstrate how they can individually and collectively participate in value-based care and how to review, modify, and improve their overall performance. The course will culminate with an examination of leadership at the personal and system level, and students will complete a personal leadership inventory. Letter grade only.
