The Bachelor of Science in Photography is designed to provide students with a strong skill set for a career in commercial photography. The extensive preparation using the tools of today for digital photography will provide today’s student with hands on experience and the ability to create a portfolio of work. Students may take courses and select a minor that will complement this plan with the assistance of photography faculty advisors.  Be aware that courses in your major may have prerequisites that you must complete before taking those courses. Courses for your major are offered in specific sequence and you must complete any required prerequisite courses in sequence and when they are offered to avoid being unable to enroll in a required course for which you have not completed the prerequisites. Failure to take courses in sequence may delay completion of your degree.

You are strongly encouraged to complete the Communication core and your English and Math Foundation your first year to prepare you for the required courses.

You must earn a grade of  “C” or better in the Communication Core (COM 101 and COM 200), COM 131 and Freshman Composition (ENG 105) and Liberal Studies Mathematics Foundation Course. You must earn a “C” or better in all courses required for the Bachelor of Science in Photography major and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better in these courses to complete this degree.

BE AWARE THAT THE FINAL RESPONSIBILITY OF SELECTING COURSES RESTS WITH YOU. IT IS YOUR FULL RESPONSIBILITY TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR COURSE OF STUDY, IN THEIR PROPER ORDER, SO YOU DON’T FIND YOURSELF IN YOUR SENIOR YEAR INELIGIBLE FOR GRADUATION.

General Information

Progression Plans are intended to provide a general road map related to the sequencing of courses.

For a full description of degree requirements, review the university catalog.  To determine what requirements you may have already met through transfer credits, AP/IB courses, or test credits review your degree progress report.

Some courses may have prerequisites and/or require appropriate placement scores in Mathematics and English.  If you do not have the appropriate placement or pre-requisite courses, you may have to take more courses than are presented on the Progression Plan.

Not all classes are offered every term so use caution when changing the sequencing of courses.

For further clarification, refer to the catalog (link provided at the top of this page) or speak with an academic advisor.
