Program Information
Anthropology, the study of Humanity's past, present, and future and includes: biological anthropology, socio-cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and archaeology. Within these areas, the Anthropology Department has a wide range of focal areas that attract students from a variety of backgrounds.
You may select from the following emphases for this plan: General Anthropology, Sociocultural Anthropology, or Archaeology. You may also choose a minor instead of an emphasis after speaking with an advisor. You may use individualized coursework (ANT 485, 497, 499, 466 or 408) toward the required 9 units required within an Emphasis.
You must earn a grade of C or better in all courses required for your major in Anthropology, including courses in the emphases. Note: some major courses require prerequisites and students should verify their course sequences when planning semesters.

For a full description of degree requirements, review the Academic Catalog. To determine what requirements you may have already met through transfer credits, AP/IB courses, or test credits review your Academic Requirements, advisement report.
Some courses may have prerequisites and/or require appropriate placement scores in Mathematics and English. If you do not have the appropriate placement or prerequisite courses, you may have to take more courses than are presented on the Progression Plan.
