To receive a bachelor's degree at Northern Arizona University, you must complete at least 120 units of credit that minimally includes a major, the liberal studies requirements, and university requirements as listed below.
- All of Northern Arizona University's diversity, liberal studies, junior-level writing, and capstone requirements.
- All requirements for your specific academic plan(s).
- At least 30 units of upper-division courses, which may include transfer work.
- At least 30 units of coursework taken through Northern Arizona University, of which at least 18 must be upper-division courses (300-level or above). This requirement is not met by credit-by-exam, retro-credits, transfer coursework, etc.
- A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 on all work attempted at Northern Arizona University.

In addition to University Requirements:
- At least 76 units of major requirements. Note that PHO courses, ART 100, and ART 101 do not fulfill the requirements of the B.S. Interior Design.
- Be aware that you may not use courses with an ID prefix to satisfy the liberal studies requirements
- Elective courses, if needed, to reach an overall total of at least 120 units
Students may be able to use some courses to meet more than one requirement. Contact your advisor for details.

Major Requirements

Take the following 76 units with a Grade of "C" or better in each ID course:
- ID 121, ID 123, ID 221, ID 224, ID 230, ID 240, ID 246, ID 247, ID 322, ID 325, ID 361, ID 362, ID 407, ID 421, ID 425, ID 461, ID 462 (49 units)
- ART 135, ART 150 (6 units)
- Select from: HA 250, HA 260, HA 335, HA 495 or from any ACC, BA, ECO, FIN, MGT, or MKT courses (6 units)
- ARH 141, ARH 142 (6 units)
- PSY 101 (3 units)
- ID 326W (3 units)
- ID 490C (3 units)
General Electives

Additional coursework is required if, after you have met the previously described requirements, you have not yet completed a total of 120 units of credit.
You may take these remaining courses from any of the academic areas, using these courses to pursue your specific interests and goals. You may also use prerequisites or transfer credits as electives if they weren't used to meet major, minor, or liberal studies requirements.
We encourage you to consult with your advisor to select the courses that will be most advantageous to you.

Laptop Computer Requirement
Beginning with the Fall 2010 semester, students taking second year Interior Design courses must own a laptop computer as their coursework will include in-class computer-based assignments. Details about systems, software, and departmental support is available on the School of Art website.
Professional Organization
Northern Arizona University currently supports a student branch of the American Society of Interior Designers; upon graduation from the B.S. in interior design, you may apply for associate membership in the ASID.
