This certificate plan is designed to meet your needs if you are currently at least provisionally certified for Career and Technical Education; and are completing the required professional knowledge courses to convert your provisional certificate to a standard certificate.
To be admitted to this program you need to have an Arizona Provisional Career and Technical Education teaching certificate (or equivalent from another state).

This plan will not be available to new students after Summer 2024

  • To receive an undergraduate certificate (at least 15 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.

    Please be aware that federal financial aid is not available for some certificates, if the certificate is pursued and completed as a stand-alone certificate (i.e., not completed concurrently with a degree program). See the "Details" tab for additional information.

Students may be able to use some courses to meet more than one requirement. Contact your advisor for details.

Additional Admission Requirements
  • Individual program admission requirements over and above admission to NAU are required.

    • To be admitted to this program you need to have an Arizona Provisional Career and Technical Education teaching certificate (or equivalent from another state).
Certificate Requirements
  • Take the following 15 units with a Grade of "C" or better in each course and a minimum GPA of 2.5:

    All courses in this certificate program are eligible for transfer to one of the B.S.Ed. Career and Technical Education degree programs.
  • This certificate may be pursued and completed concurrently with a degree program or as a stand-alone certificate. Federal financial aid cannot be used if the certificate is completed as a stand-alone certificate.
