A minor is earned in conjunction with a bachelor's degree.
To receive a minor (18 - 24 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. At least 12 units of the minor must be unique to that minor and not applied to any other minor.

Purpose Statement
This minor prepares students to analyze, synthesize, and interpret perennial and contemporary societal issues from a combination of humanistic perspectives. It develops graduates who can effectively communicate their ideas to aid personal and community-based problem-solving. Through the analysis of multiple perspectives in literature, film, technology, art, religion, and environment, students in this minor investigate the nature of human imagination and perception that influence their values—and those of others around them.
Student Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the Minor in Humanities are able to:
- Make informed decisions, generate viewpoints, and effectively communicate cultural approaches. They are able to do this by integrating the history, nature, experiences, values, and expressions of diverse cultures and communities on topics as diverse as borders and regions, ideas and values, and environment and technology.

Take the following 18 units with a Grade of "C" or better in each course:
- Select six or more HUM or CCS courses in consultation with a humanities advisor (18 units)
