This undergraduate certificate is available to all College of Engineering, Informatics, and Applied Sciences (CEIAS) majors who are maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or above. The certificate is available only to degree-seeking CEIAS majors; it will be awarded upon completion of CEIAS Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degrees.

To receive an undergraduate certificate (at least 15 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.
Please be aware that federal financial aid is not available for some certificates, if the certificate is pursued and completed as a stand-alone certificate (i.e., not completed concurrently with a degree program). See the "Details" tab for additional information.

Certificate Requirements

Take the following 15 units with a Grade of "C" or better in each course:

Foreign Language Proficiency (3 units)
- Demonstrated via one of the following:
- One upper-division foreign language course, or equivalent CLEP credit
- One lecture-based course taught in a non-English language taken during study abroad
- Demonstrated via one of the following:

International Training (12 units)
- Demonstrated via some combination of the following:
- International Study or Internship. either CENS 497 or additional foreign language study-abroad coursework, research, or internship credits transferred to NAU (3-12 units)
- International-themed coursework (0-9 units)
- Demonstrated via some combination of the following:

- Certain other Northern Arizona University courses may be eligible for substitution for any of the above courses with petition/approval by a College of Engineering, Informatics, and Applied Sciences (CEIAS) professional advisor

This certificate explicitly requires foreign language proficiency. Students electing to pursue an International experience in an English-speaking country or institution abroad must still satisfy the language requirement by demonstrating proficiency (as outlined above) in a foreign language of their choice.
This certificate is awarded upon completion of your bachelor's degree.

CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

You may complete this certificate if you are a foreign student pursuing an engineering degree at your home institution and you have been visiting Northern Arizona University as a study-abroad destination for at least one full semester.
Take the following 15 units with a Grade of "C" or better in each course:

- No more than 6 units of total coursework may be lower-division
- International students may petition to apply at most 3 units of equivalent coursework taken at their home institution to the above requirements
- Certain other Northern Arizona University courses may be eligible for substitution for any of the above courses with petition/approval by CEIAS professional advisor
All graded coursework must be passed with a grade of "C" or better. This certificate is awarded by Northern Arizona University either with or after your graduation from your home institution.
This certificate is administered by the College of Engineering, Informatics, and Applied Sciences. All applications, petitions, and requests related to the certificate should be directed to the CEIAS professional advisor.

This certificate is available only to degree-seeking CEIAS majors who are maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or above. At least 9 units must be upper-division, and at most 6 units can be lower-division. A minimum of 9 units must be taken at Northern Arizona University.

This certificate may only be pursued and completed concurrently with a degree program. This certificate is not available as a stand-alone certificate.
