This minor allows students to explore visual culture as manifested in film and digital/new media. The program provides a framework that includes hands-on production, historical perspectives, and the essentials of programming. Students will gain proficiency in the visual and the aural as they explore the power of the media to educate and entertain.
Creative media is ever-changing as film, television, radio, and the Internet are creating new career paths every day. If you're interested in being part of the evolution of the "information highway" there is opportunity to put yourself on the cutting edge by adding a minor in Creative Media and Film to your major.
Delve into the ethical issues of media culture and professional standards, and apply your skills to all aspects of the field--production, transmission, and regulation and management of creative media messages. Your courses will cover everything from creating a network newscast to producing and directing audio material.
A minor is earned in conjunction with a bachelor's degree.
To receive a minor (18 - 24 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. At least 12 units of the minor must be unique to that minor and not applied to any other minor.
