What is a Clinical Nurse Specialist?
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an Advanced Practice Nurse who is licensed as a Registered Nurse and takes a specialty certification exam to practice as a CNS. They are expert clinicians who often have specialization in a variety of health care settings. They can diagnose, treat, and manage patient care. General subspecialties include Adult/Gerontology, Pediatrics, and Neonatal care. Generally CNS's are not granted full prescriptive authority. CNS's often focus on more broad aspects of care (such as patient education).
Students who are admitted to the course bundle will be eligible for the official posting of the Course Bundle to their transcripts when all applicable coursework has been successfully completed and approved by the academic unit.
