The Public Administration of Native Nations Minor serves students whose professional goals in their respective majors are likely to interface with Native Nations and communities. As a Public Administration of Native Nations minor, students have the ability to critically approach how Indigenous governments are distinct from federal, state, and county governments, requiring knowledge and skills beyond those taught in topic-specific areas such as education, environmental science, or planning. The focus area in tribal policy, politics, and administration provides students with the necessary knowledge and tools in federal Indian policy and intergovernmental relations to operate effectively within a tribal government.
If you're interested in working with or for American Indian tribal nations a minor in Tribal Public Administration can be a useful addition to any major. You will be prepared to engage with tribal communities and utilize skills from your major as they apply in federal, state and local situations and apply them to regional issues.
Gain critical skills in tribal employment rights ordinances, intergovernmental relations, environmental management, tribal budgeting and financial administration, tribal strategic planning, and more.
A minor is earned in conjunction with a bachelor's degree.
