This minor is intended to give non-business majors a basic foundation in business skills. Employees for any organization, and especially those who work for themselves, need a general understanding of accounting, business information systems, business law, economics, management, marketing and finance. This minor is not available to any student with a major in business.


What Can I Do with a Minor in Business?

No matter what your degree is, you will need basic business skills to survive in today's economy. Through a business minor, you will learn the basic principles of accounting, finance, management, marketing, computer information systems, economics and business law. With this basic understanding, you will be able to understand your financial position and know when it is time to call in an expert. This minor is not available to business majors.

University Requirements

  • A minor is earned in conjunction with a bachelor's degree.

    To receive a minor (18 to 24 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. At least 12 units of the minor must be unique to that minor and not applied to any other minor.

  • Complete individual plan requirements.

Please note that students may be able to use some courses to meet more than one requirement. Contact your advisor for details.

No more than 50% of the units used to satisfy minor requirements may be used to satisfy major requirements.
