Clinical Nursing Specialist Prescriptive Authority Course Bundle, Endorsement
What is a Clinical Nurse Specialist?
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an Advanced Practice Nurse who is licensed as a Registered Nurse and takes a specialty certification exam to practice as a CNS. They are expert clinicians who often have specialization in a variety of health care settings. They can diagnose, treat, and manage patient care. General subspecialties include Adult/Gerontology, Pediatrics, and Neonatal care. Generally CNS’s are not granted full prescriptive authority. CNS’s often focus on more broad aspects of care (such as patient education).
After you have completed the appropriate courses, you can obtain the endorsement by applying directly to the Arizona Department of Education. Please be aware that to receive an endorsement, you must also be certified to teach elementary, secondary, or special education; the endorsement alone does not certify you to teach in Arizona. Please note that all endorsements are granted through the Arizona Department of Education.
Visit the Arizona Department of Education page for Educator Certification for more information and access to the applications for endorsements: http://www.azed.gov/educator-certification/certificate-requirement/endorsements/
