This certificate program provides additional training for current students as well as professionals who desire training specifically in leadership, governance, administration and management within indigenous communities.
The coursework provides education and training for both degree and non-degree seeking students. The program provides professional training for current students, as well as those in the public or private sector working in, for, or with Indigenous nations and communities and Indigenous Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). The program is also appropriate for those working in non-Indigenous government agencies in positions where they must engage with Indigenous nations and communities.

Individual program admission requirements over and above admission to NAU are required.
Take the following 18 units:
To complete the certificate, students must earn a grade of B or higher in 15 of the 18 units, and C or higher in the remaining 3 credits.This certificate may be pursued and completed concurrently with a degree program or as a stand-alone certificate. Under both circumstances, federal financial aid can be used for this certificate.
