Description: In alignment with American Avalanche Association's Recreation Avalanche Level-One guidelines, the course is designed to give participants practical introduction to avalanches as phenomena and begin development of skills to recognize key conditions and factors responsible for avalanche occurrence. Additionally, participants are coached in the application of strategies for prudent decision-making and techniques for travel in avalanche terrain that could thereby assist in minimizing risk. Required 2-day minimum field component. Pass/Fail only.
