Description: Linear block codes, decoding and encoding. Hamming distance, error correction capabilities, convolutional codes, maximum-likelihood decoding and the Viterbi algorithm. Iterative decoding and design of turbo codes and low-density parity-check codes. Requires knowledge of digital logic and signals and systems. Co-convenes with EE 435. Letter grade only. Prerequisite: EE 110 and EE 348 or equivalents.
