SOCI 314 - The Sociological Aspects Of Education

Description: Education is more than just the schools; it encompasses all of the ways that young people are socialized into their communities. In its broadest sense, education is the way one generation transmits its social structure, expectations for citizenship, knowledge, and behaviors to the next generation. This course looks at the social aspects of education, the interaction between home, society, and educational institution, the way social inequalities are reproduced in schools, and the ways that identity are formed through education.
