Description: TSM 630 is a 3-credit course that is part of the Research Methods Core block of courses as part of the Mathematics Education and Science Education doctoral programs. This course provides students with a foundational understanding of research methodology in mathematics and science education. The course introduces the broad range of purposes and methods within mathematics and science education, including NAU researchers and research topics. This course guides candidates in the Ph.D. program through gathering, analyzing, critiquing, and synthesizing prior research associated with a topic of interest. The readings and associated learning activities designed for this course are suitable for practicing teachers, other educational personnel, and graduate students. There are no prerequisites for this course. Letter grade only.
