TSM 631 - Qualitative Research Methodology


Description: TSM 631 is a 3-credit course that is part of the Research Methods Core as part of the Mathematics Education and Science Education doctoral programs. This course provides students with a general understanding of qualitative methodology in mathematics and science educational research and issues related to the design and conduct of qualitative studies. The course explores characteristics of and approaches to qualitative research and provides foundational experiences in qualitative data collection and analysis. The readings and associated learning activities designed for this course are suitable for practicing teachers, other educational personnel, and graduate students. Students who intend to pursue qualitative research should take this introductory course and at least one additional course on qualitative methods. Letter grade only.
