Description: BIO 690 is a Graduate-level course that explores the complex issue of biodiversity loss in the Anthropocene and examines how emerging technologies and community science can contribute to solutions. Students will engage with topics such as technology-driven approaches to conservation--including mobile apps like iNaturalist and eBird, remote sensing, and data science applications in ecology--while also exploring the role of community-based conservation and science-policy integration. Designed for graduate students in environmental science, ecology, data science, and conservation, the course welcomes interdisciplinary perspectives and emphasizes practical strategies for implementing innovative systems at the intersection of science and policy.
