BIO 390 - Introduction To Dna Barcoding

Description: Students will learn molecular biology techniques while DNA barcoding in a laboratory setting. DNA barcoding is a technique where a short DNA sequence, or "barcode", is used to identity a living organism. Methods used in the DNA barcoding workflow include DNA extraction, PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, and basic bioinformatics while possibly contributing to authentic research. The methods learned in this lab will help prepare students for laboratory jobs after graduation or graduate programs in biology. Letter grade only.
