Purpose Statement

The Service, Management and Leadership (SML) program’s mission is to prepare students for success in becoming better managers and leaders in service and non-service related organizations.  The purpose of this program is to provide students with the required tools, including servant leadership, problem solving, team dynamics, various toolsets and methodologies, and effective communications.  All course content is relevant to today’s business environment, and each one provides a chance for students to engage in real-world problem solving applications.  Effectively, our program is designed to give our student an advantage for success in their chosen industry locally and globally.

Integrated into the SIMY program BA requirements, are two interrelated courses, specifically effective business communications, and professional practices and ethics.  The former course addresses student needs regarding communicating effectively internal and external to the business.  All too often, these needs are unmet in today’s business climate.  The latter is a capstone course which provides students with a unique outlook as to the challenges organizations are faced with on a regular basis, and gives students a chance to address them through their capstone project.

Our program is also designed to be offered through the online community for those who are unable to partake in the hybrid format at our campus in Prescott Valley.
